Volvo V70 A/C Compressor replacement

Hi all,

I'm looking for some much needed advice!!

I've just taken my 2001 V70 in for a service and been told the A/C Compressor needs replacing at a total cost of £881.00!!

Can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative, I'm located near Horsham.

Does anyone have any recommended garages that could do a decent but cheaper job?

Was this a main dealer. It's a bit of a trek for you but might be worth giving Russ a call at RTM Mechanics in Liphook even if only to get an idea on price. He's done a great job for me on both my Volvo's over the last few years.
