New V70 (and impending shininess)
Discussion
Have now had my new V70 for long enough to form more than a 'test drive' opinion and I have to say I likes it! It's an SE Lux 2.0 diesel, so no roadburner I'm afraid, but lots of toys and credit-crunch friendly 40mpg+ and road tax...
It feels solid, rides well and - although understandably gruffer than the Merc E320Cdi I've had until recently - is refined at high-ish motorway speeds. Steering is pretty numb though, and it's fair to say it wallows a little on the twisty bits. Still, the Mrs and Junior like the more compliant ride after constant complaints re the sports suspension on the Merc.
Quality seems excellent and it's full of clever little touches - on the whole very impressed. Also got an excellent price via a well known internet broker (am I allowed to recommend on here?) and good service from the Volvo stealer they put me in touch with (again, can recommend on here if allowed, or via PM).
The one thing I did say a big 'no thankyou' to was Supagard, at main dealer prices - £300 for a quick wipedown from the resident YTS trainee? Investing the money in a New Car detail by James of Autofinesse instead; he's due on Friday (weather permitting) and I can't wait to see the results :-). Hopefully pics will be forthcoming.
