I've just started a thread on the Saab forum on this site and wondered if I could get an opinion from Volvo owners.
I would be grateful for some input either here or the Saab thread.
Thanks in advance

Can't give direct comparison but next door neighbour has a 9-5 and thinks it's a pile...............compared to the Volvo's he's owned previously.I would be grateful for some input either here or the Saab thread.

I'm a very happy D5 owner and can't see the point in burning the light stuff when the "real" fuel does it so much better. Had a look at a V70 D5 SE Geartronic ? Might be pleasantly surprised but they do take a while to loosen up. Fuel costs and VED will certainly be lower than with either the Saab or Volvo petrol variants and if it's not quite as quick - how does that really affect your life 99% of the time ?
Just a thought.

You're right, it doesn't affect my life that much, epsecially on the station run in the morning, but knowing you can go fast if you wanted to is important!
The guys at work all have 400 bhp cars, as well
The first reason is valid. The second one I'm not sure about. Dare to be different, perhaps ? Whatever you decide, just enjoy it.................life's too short to faff about and this is not a dress rehearsal. The guys at work all have 400 bhp cars, as well

My V70 D5 SE is 'run in' ....127,000 miles: with 'Sports Tune' RICA it matches my 850 T5 (RICA 304) performance-wise up to about 80, but falls behind from there on upwards . Very different drives, both fun, personally prefer the T5 for sheer warp speed, BUT, here's the clincher for me:
Same driving style, same routes over 20,000ish miles -
D5 has averaged 46.3 MPG
T5 has averaged 19.2 MPG
Comparitive BHP / Nm details shown on My profile.
Hope this sheds some light.
