At least the RAWD's in Sweden are auto only, and I doubt they would be any different in UK.

This is a manual, HPI confirmed. Been a volvo owner all my life but more experience on here - what should I look out for - transmissions were an issue on early awd's weren't they?

What year is it? 1999 and 2000 the V70R AWD were only automatic, 1998 there was both an auto and manual V70R saffron model, not sure if the manual was AWD though?

they did do a AWD V70 manual.not sure if it was only specific years but my busness partner has an 850R and was looking to get the V70 AWD R as he was struggling putting power down. And he was DEFFINATLY looking at manuals.
He's since swapped to Toyo R888's and they are amazing. No wheel spin.(so hes ordering new rods, pistons ,turbo etc and we're rebuilding his engine to big powersmile

I'm not saying there wasn't a manual version, even if I'm not sure there was one. But, there are quite a few with more or less successful manual conversions...

HPI is showing it as a manual - would that also show the conversion or do you recommend contacting a Volvo dealer with VIN

I'm not so familiar with the HPI check in UK, so I dare not guess if it would show or not, but I'm fairly familiar with Volvo's, better check it, just to be sure.

Well going to have a look at her on Sunday and test drive her. Car is mainly to be used by the wife during the week as we need an estate for the dog as my company one is going.

They did indeed make auto AND manual versions of the V70R

Yes the V70R was available in both auto and manual, but did they make a manual of the V70R AWD?

Anyway, how was the car?

I think that is what we have been discussing biggrin As an 2WD 'R' owner and an avid member of the Volvo community, I can assure you the P1 V70R AWD was available from factory as a manual car

cool

Exterior pretty good - interior really disapointing - to the point that the wife got upset as she was building her hopes up. The seats had really excessive wear and the steering wheel was also badly worn. At least 10 niggles on the interior to be honnest.

However we went to have a look at a lower mileage one today in black (was also on PH classifieds) stunning. Real eye catcher in black with tinted windows etc. 89K & price was decent - only 2 niggles. 1) fog lamp on near side doesnt work & needs the backing replacing - easy fix. 2) Little more interesting this one - power - somebody has retrofitted a K&N air filter and completely removed the air box. Car really seems to struggle above 3000 rpm for power - feels either fuel or air so complete air box from volvo on order (£150) and then we will persue the matter - no error codes though as volvo had a quick look today for me. Any ideas would be appreciated - maybe a new fuel filter wouldnt go a miss.

Will post this issue seperatley to see if anybody else is aware.

Thanks for all your help

Bugger about the interior...

Anyway, a nice, shiny black, old generation V70 with tinted windows, and discreet Volvo original wind deflectors over the side windows, to add width to the upper body, is imo one of the best looking daily cars to be found. Not that I'm biased or anything, I had one in all black myself and just loved it biggrin

The loss of power at 3000 revs, it can be due to a clogged filter, in worst case it could be a shot turbo, but not likely since it gives no fault code, and very rare to happen. Is the engine running on normal temp?

Engine appears to be running fine and at the right temp.

It has to be one of three things
1) Air
2) Fuel
3) Ignition

As she is running lovely and there is no apparent miss fire then it has to be air or fuel. I ran her home with BP Ultimate in and there did appear to be a slight improvement so maybe a fueling issue or blocked filter.

Hope it isnt a shagged turbo as that is really going to cost.

Will post something on Volvo Forums

Most likely either a clogged filter or a boost leak (more probable)
check all the pipes to your turbo and intercooler etc (big and small ones) and make sure they arent perished, split or loose.
doubt its your turbo unless there is smoke out of your exhaust.
hope this helps
