Hi folks
im looking at a nice S70 its on a 97 plate with a 2.4 petrol engine 55000 on the clock with a full service history. can anyone advise what to look out for and expected MPG. Ill be using it to do about 240 miles per day up and down the M1. Thanks in advance for any advice.Or should I even be looking at a different model

Hi Mick, I have owned an ex-demo '98 V70 since it was 6 months old so the longest I have owned a car !, it has been really reliable with only the usual consumables used, having said that its still on its original exhaust and only replaced the battery last year.
Drivers door electric window switch pack is the only item I can recall I have replaced due worn/burnt contacts from the one drivers window switch which is kind of understandable-£85 IIRC.
Engine is bombproof and uses about 1 litre between services. Thats the 2.5 10 valve, with currently 109k miles.
With all that said mate its never going to win any fuel consumption talent shows for urban round town driving, but then it is a heavy motor and to be honest a steady plod on the motorway will get around 30 to the gallon so not too bad.
Mine is also the CD model so had every option apart from SatNav - (what was that in 98?????) comfortable as hell particularly looking at the mileage you have stated. Hope this helps
Brgds
Ian

Thanks Ian
In the end I didnt buy it, I found a mondeo that had been wrapped in cotton wool since new by an elderly gentleman, since it had only 45k on the clock and he'd serviced it every 4000miles it was too good to pass at £1900. But thanks again for your reply
Regards
Mick
