Hi,

Looking for a cheap, pleasant, prestigous, diesel car that won't cost the earth to run. Would like a few toys too. I've found a 2001 S40 that seems to foot the bill, but I'm wondering about peoples own experiences with this car.

Whats it like to drive for example? I am an enthusiastic driver(my other car is an elise) Will I find it very dull or can it be hustled a bit? Also whats mid range torque like, good for overtaking?

Also what issues should I keep an eye out for?

All opinions/views are welcome

Thanks

Patbiggrin

Not a bad car per se, but it is SLOW!

My father has the 115bhp version but in the V40 guise which I have driven quite a bit and you really need to keep on it to make progress, which means I get the same fuel consumption in it as I do in my remapped S60 D5 which has twice the power & torque!

Mines got the "handling pack" didn't realise till the garage told me when I was picking up some bits and bobs. I did think it handled quite well.

It is godawfully slow, however - shame it doesn't have the "power pack"!
