I might be wrong here, but it isn't the end of the world putting unleaded in a diesel car, its the other way round isn't it??
I know a mate put unleaded in his diesel car and drove it, then had the AA tow him back and had all the fuel system etc cleaned out, then the car was as good as new.
Fingers crossed for you.

I'm no expert but have had an experience of this.
As this was a while ago, I presume you may have already sorted it by now. Your ECU should have detected the wrong fuel type at the fuel pump and also the o2 sensors should have picked it up as well. Hopefully it will have stopped the engine before any/much damage was caused.
IIRC you "should" replace pump, injectors, sensors etc... but if the whole system is fully drained and new filter you might get away with starting it up again. I didnt mind replacing parts should they need relacing but did not want to unless I had to, if you get my drift. You will get codes which need read, checked up and cleared.
Like I said, you "should" take it to the garage and have it done properly but you asked "anyone else had same experience?" and this is my answer.

Don't know if you've sorting it or not yet but thought i'd say my bit anyway. As the marketing director of a Volvo specialist it seems a good idea to put forward the cheapest option! We see lots of these, all you need to do is have the car recovered to a dealer / specialist / independent and have the tank drained - normally done by activating the fuel pump and disconnecting the line so you can empty the tank completely. Put some diesel in the tank and crank it until it starts - this will take a minute or 2 as the fuel line is long! Nothing needs cleaning or replacing although you can replace the fuel filter if you want. This is exactly what we do and charge accordingly. You don't need new injectors / fuel line ..... Hope that helps. A decent injector and fuel system cleaner is also a good idea - just stick in the fuel tank and drive normally.

Thats very interesting, I thought as much, I guess that petrol is thinner than diesil and would soon get flushed out, if anything it would clean out the injectors a bit maybe?Edited by suterman on Saturday 10th November 19:32
