Help!!!
The wee drip of oil under the car turns out to be from a union on the steering rack. I check it and tighten it as it seems slack. The drip is now like a river!
First guess is there's a copper washer that has cracked with age but could it be the pipe end (banjo fitting) or the rack itself?
It's a 93(K) with 195k miles on it, anyone had a similar problem? Going out to look tomorrow, rain and midgies permitting.

Well, the washers are not broken, the faces of the union aren't that bad, it's the union with the short pipe that has the rubber pipe from the resevoir connected.
Tried cleaning everything up and putting a bit of sealant on to take up any scratches, put a bit of fluid in and it still pees out, not a drop a flow like a tap. Will try new washers next.

Could be the union nut itself has cracked if its pouring from there specifically.

YUP, its the banjo, it has become porous, through corrosion mainly.
Anyone got a spare??

Afraid not, haven't had Volvos for a while, wish I did though. How about a bodge with PTFE tape or something?

PTFE tape wouldnt work its the high pressure return to the resevoir.
New pipe on its way from Volvo, not as expensive as I thought.
Apparently its a common prob, they protrude below the crossmember slightly, and despite all the engine oil on it etc they rust through.
