Well overpriced in Europe, selling in pounds for the same number of dollars in the US, they depreciated badly here in the UK. You should be able to buy the earlier ones for £12,000 to £15,000.
However, they are costly to maintain and it really is a consideration to buy used from a dealer for a premium and then pay extra for a proper Volvo extended warranty.
Worth visiting www.volvoclub.org.uk where, if you post up you will get some sound advice from owners who have seen huge repair bills covered by a genuine Volvo extended warranty.
They are a quirky car, not particularly spectacular on the road, loaded with heavy toys and gadgets. It is my view that you will be just as content with a late model (MY '06) T5. They have got 260bhp as standard with the same turbo as the R's, but without the R's delicate wide bore engine and transmission.
You can work these latest T5's to arround the 300bhp plus mark with a good software upgrade and full exhaust and search out one with most all of the R's toys if that is your bag.....none of the frailties of the AWD Rs.
Regards, Don.

Out of the dealer network and with higher miles probably 10k as a minimum starting price, they havnt really dropped too much in value over the past year as the initial hit on them is massive, plus not many cars around always helps with re-sale.
Worth driving one first to see if you like it, if you need all weather traction and performance they can be a worthwhile car, avoid the auto though as its limited on torque apart from on the later cars.
They can be a bit hit and miss as to if you get a good or bad example though so check previous warranty claims.
They use a different turbo and engine set up to the T5 versions which Volvo spent alot developing so can be fettled with a bit more if you like.
The Volvo section on here is always a bit quiet so if your not already do a search and have a look at some of the Volvo forums on the net for greater advice.
