Just bought a T5 - problems
Discussion
A friend just bought an R-reg T5 estate for £1250, and it seems to be priced low for a reason. The engine stutters when accelerating from 3k-4k rpm in every gear, and after a fairly long hard drive home, it dribbled coolant onto the floor by the offside front wheel. Then there's the ABS, which doesn't seem to work because the back wheels lock up under heavy braking, and the fact that the ignition key does not lock the car.
Not exactly a pretty picture then, but does anyone have any experience of such problems and know whether they are easy to sort out with a Volvo specialist, or whether they indicate a more terminal problem?
Many thanks
Ginger
(P.S. I imagine when he's less busy he'll come in and give a more intelligent summary of the problems himself.)

We had a problem with the locking once - when the rest of the car locked, the passenger door popped back open. This was caused by a sensor being broken during a rear door replacement when a truck ran into us. Though it doesn't sound like that's the same thing??Not exactly a pretty picture then, but does anyone have any experience of such problems and know whether they are easy to sort out with a Volvo specialist, or whether they indicate a more terminal problem?

Whereabouts are you?

Well he works in North London but I don't know whether he'll want to get the niggles sorted out there or at home in Nottinghamshire. Did you have someone in mind?
Yep! Don Norchi's not far from there, I don't think. http://www.kalmar-union.com/ He's more on the performance side of things, but he might have some ideas if you give him a call?Failing that, I use an independent in Farnham Common who's very good. Though I've heard mixed reports about the place, I've only ever had good service there.
