Looking for a volvo S40/S80 diesel, advise please
Discussion
hello there, Im looking for a bigger car, I currently have a pug 306 hdi 3 door, as my wife is pregnant and we already have a daughter we are looking for a bigger car, Ive always had sporty cars civic type-r's, cupra-r and just sold my 2003 blobeye scooby due to redundancy from the RAF. So until I leave the RAF and find a new job we are looking for a safe, realiable bigger car which is good on fuel has good boot space, have about £5500 to spend, been looking at the S40's and also seen an S80 2.5d which looks quite nice, could anyone give me any help and advice and on what to lookout for when buying a volvo,
any help would be much appreciated
cheers ian

now then Ian,
Also check out the S60 D5, there are plenty of them about so they make a good buy.
SE spec adds a few more bells'n'whistles.
The D5 engine has 163bhp or 185bhp as standard (depending on model year) and can be easily chipped upto 190-200 odd bhp.
I average 45-50mpg in mine too.

Many thanks for that bobda, after test driving a V40 we have decided to go for one of them, mainly due to the fact the boot access on the S40 is to small for us, We are after V40 diesel sport, Ive got my eye on one at the mo, its got 76k on the clock, (I wanted lower mileage really) looks really nice from the pics ive seen of it, but its up for £6500 and I can only really stretch to £6000, I doubt they would come down £500, Ill leave it a week or two then ring up and see what they say,
