Volvo 480

I've just picked up the latest addition to the household, a 1994 2.0 480ES, so am after some more info on them.

I've just registered on volvoclub.org.uk but wondered does anyone on here own a 480?

GSF catalogue sent off for too, so any other suppliers for bits as I'm sure it'll need some parts sooner or later

I've always wanted one of these. 480 Turbo or 480 Celebration would do nicely!

I once read that they were initially supposed to be RWD, but then volvo changed their minds. Not sure if that's true.

You might need some patience with the car at times, but its certainly worth it

I raced them on teh grass oval for a couple of years with some success.

And now it has rained I see that it suffers the standard leaks that everyone has reported. Why oh why do you not research these things properly before bidding on ebay!!
Still, cheap to rectify and I'm really enjoying the drive.

In my opinion the turbo charged 1.7 litre engine 480 is the one to go for, especially post the post '92 ones, as they have bigger turbos and a more aggressive cam - so are infinitely more tunable - if that's your aim. I have 2 - a red '92 and a metallic black '94.

I have got quite a few 480 bits at the back of the garage if you need any bits!
