Answer:
When it's a new Mondeo.

Looks like it's more than engines that Ford are gleaning from their purchase of Volvo.

If you squint at the dash shot it even looks similar.

Have you seen a Focus estate recently? Badge engineering at its best...

Except the V50 is on the Focus chassis not the Mondeo... If it was on the Mondeo platform, the bootspace wouldn't have been so stingy!!

Still think the Volv looks better than the Dagenham Dustbin.
Spec list for price will be better on the Faetus

I agree the V50 is nicer to look at, but strangely the Foucs is much nicer to drive... The steering on the Volvo seems a lot more vague and too light.

OMG I've just realised that Ford are changing Volvs into their corporate image.
The IRON/MARS sign now has a blue circle, only one step away from a blue squashed circle, what you call them??? Ovals that's it...

Perhaps, but I expect that bits will come off in your hands when you try to use them. V50 vs Focus Estate; they aren't even the same class in my book. I'd love a V50, I'd quite simply not entertain having the Focus.

Oh, the engines, don't get me started! I feel that stealing the T5 engine for the Focus ST was one of the biggest crimes in motoring history. Straight five's are ace, and are a major part of what makes Volvo cool. What the hell has a Focus got to do with a staight five, apart from it being readily available from the group parts bin?

Moreover, creating the C30 was a master stroke by Volvo, opening up the entire range to a new group of young buyers. Unfortunately the range topping C30 T5 had ben pre-emptively neutered by the Focus ST. I would otherwise have been regarded as the connoisseur's hot hatch, but instead every review I've read regards it as "an over-priced Focus ST".

The theft of the T5 engine put me right of Frod.
I love my T5 to bits, its a real Jekyll and Hyde car.
Does the S-Max have a detuned T5 engine? I think it only puts out 190 bhp
perhaps it is just the 2.5 turbo version used in 850 Turbos and V70 Turbo (note turbo spec not T5 spec)
