tuning a v40 T4

WHAT CAN BE HAD WITH CHIP TUNING etc ??
and does mileage make much difference?? as most volos seem to do galatic mileage
without any problems

Hi,

Have a look on www.volvoclub.org.uk and post up on the S40/V40 section; there's a fair bit of info on there with respect to tuning these cars and many owners will give you sound advice, form their experience. Several owners there have various stages of tuned T4s ranging from around 230bhp right up to 350+bhp.

Heico and Rica go for 235 hp. Sure someone will chip it up to 300+ for you, but this sure affects the millage!!!!
Go for Heico or Rica chiptuning, a sport exhaust, downpipe with race cat and a sport airfilter. These mods (will be bloody expensive tough) should give you an est. 250 hp, and your on the safe side!!

Another point worth noting, which is frequently overlooked is upgrades from all other distributors, RICA, Upsolute, Superchips etc, will involve removing the ECU, opening it up and desoldering / resoldering the EPROM. The only company which has the technical and hardware capability of reflashing the ECU directly is MTE, for which Kalmar Union (www.kalmar-union.com) is the local distributor. I believe the guy from MTE is coming down to the UK in early February, so if you want to go for something special, I would recommend contacting Kalmar Union for more information.
