Well we've recently changed my wife's car from a Mazda RX8 to a Volvo C70 T5. I really wanted here to have a RR Sport with the new V8 diesel engine, but she felt it was too big for her motoring and after testing all the competing coupes, decided on the Volvo.

I'll be honest and say that I am more than pleasantly surprised by the car, the fit and finish is excellent, the roof magic, the engine characterful: though it needs flappers on the steering wheel for the auto, and lastly, the handling is better than expected.

Even more importantly 'Head Office' is delighted with the car and feels that it is one of the best cars that she has had so far; so all is well!
I will now look at all Volvo's, past and present, in a new light. wavey

Welcome!

wavey

nice car the new C70. All we need now is an R AWD version, preferably in V9 guise and I'll be on the list

Thanks guys for the welcome. I'm glad you clarified the V9 as I was confused! Now with a V8 that would be some car.

Cheers
Brian

I picked up the older verion in hardtop 23 days ago, its reasonably understated and the T5 is awesome, gives the M3 owners a bit of a shock! "Volvo for life" is starting to make a lot of sense already

Great looking car, 'scuse my ignorance but what is a Rica upgrade? Is it a type of re-chipping?

Yes, Rica upgrade is an ECU tweak. If you're seriously interested check out

www.volvotuninguk.com
... go to the engine tuning tab and find your model. (Mine's a '99 C70 T5 so should go from 240-310 horses.)

Thanks Oogieboogie, interesting but I think we will wait until we put some miles on it. Also I did not know there was such a thing as the Volvo Performance forum, thanks again.

The trick is not from a standing start, nowhere near enough grip for all those horses. But 30-naughty has already earned me 3 badges on the side of my cockpit Think it helps that it's unexpected, big lumbering C70, by the time the M3/whatever realises it's a serious car it's too late.

with my d-5 i have gone from o-80mph and been dead level with a bmw 330, he had 4 people in the car..whereas it was just me in my car..but it was pretty funny, and i could hear the 330's engine as he was flooring it to the max.. when traffic came, i managed to tell him that my car is a diesel

Those D5's are awesome. I've always said I wouldn't have a diesel, but they could change my mind!

oogieboogie..there are two d5's though..the one with 163bhp..and the one with 185bhp and 295lbt of torque..obviously always go for the latter!

i even get 38mpg on average and i drive it as if i am driving a sportscar.....except when i go round the bends

It is worth a look at www.volvoclub.org.uk

You get genuine unbiased opinions across a very wide spectrum at this very busy site.

Also worth joining the Volvo Owners Club itself....arround £26 per year...starting with special discounts on new Volvos and many preferential deals with dealers, non franchise specialists, parts etc.
