Just bought one - very pleased apart from the thirst! Go for the SE spec rather than the S. Things to look out for include knackered bushes on front suspension shown up by severe tramlining, your idle should be rock steady and not change when the air-con comes in and generally make sure all the toys work.

The premium sound is well worth having as is the winter pack (heated seats, headlight wash/wipe). The 2.0T is 180bhp and is rapid enough but you can chip them to c225bhp which improves your fuel economy.

The seats are the best I've experienced in any car, fit and finish are good and the 5 cylinder engines are silky smooth. As you say - a lot of car for the money.

Edit to add: I learnt a lot from here www.volvoclub.org.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19

I had a 51 reg S60TSE. It was one of the few cars I have regretted selling, and I'll have another.
Bad points were 1. Turning circle - not good at all 2. Bit thirsty.
Apart from that it was a lovely car, not bonkers fast, but good enough.

Tramlinig can also be down to tyres, particularly Dunlop P6000's which don't seem to suit these cars.
