Have been viewing the comments about Volvo servicing costs, my local dealers (2 or 3 that are in a 30 minutes drive)were all quoting around £300-350 for the 24k service on a S60 D5 (163 hp). However, Frank Taylor at Hinckley (Volvo dealer) have quoted me around £100 less for this service to Volvo standard, booked in for a few weeks so will let you know how good they were. (Has anyone used this garage before??)

Certainly worth the extra 15 or 20 miles or so on the journey to save around £100!!

I recently enquired various Main Dealer, Independent Garages for a 24K service for my 2005 model D5.

Volvo Stealers wanted c. £350, Independents wanted £220/£260, a local family run garage owned by a long-term Volvo Owner charged me a bargain £135 INC VAT for the 24K Service and it was very, very thorough as opposed to work done by most Volvo Main Dealer's Gimps with a banana stuck in their gobs.

Ensign Motors - Potters Bar - 01707 662250 Spot on and very well recommended!!!

PS - I have no connection with this garage, I am only recommending them after my recent, first and very pleasant dealings with them, they were 1st Class!!!

Taylors are my local dealership and I've had two new S60's from them in the past 3 1/2 years and all of the subsequent 132,000 miles of services.
IMO they are a great dealership.

However, a recent flyer I received from them stated that their Head Office address was now TMS at Melton Mowbray. I know that the family owner of Frank Taylors had been looking to sell up for a number of months ... I hope this does not adversley effect their overall service.

Further to my previous post ...
I've just had the 96,000 mile Service on my S60D5SE Auto and due to the unbelievable high quotes of circa £600 from the main dealers I went to HLM.
Hamish provided a free courtesy car (Fiesta) for the day and carried out the full Service as specified by Volvo using genuine Volvo parts, and undercut Volvo Main Dealers by £140.

Excellent service ... I shall now be using them in future.

On viewing their website, it seems they could outperform any Volvo Main Stealership by a country mile. I wish that they were nearer me!

I'll second that - Frank Taylors in Hinckley provide a great service. If you are near Nottingham then David Pengelly Auto's are a great specialist who wont cost you the earth.

I live in Nuneaton and bought both of my S60's new from Frank Taylors and my cousin has bought 3 new cars from them in the past 4 years ... we have both had good service.
The only reason I took my car elsewhere for servicing was cost.
I bought it from new just over 3 years a go and I've done 98,000 miles, the cost of the 96K service at Volvo main dealers (Taylors and Tollbar) was extortinate and I'm guessing the Volvo dictate to an extent on Labour charges - hence my switch to an independant.
It is likely that I will change my S60 next year (I might just run the Alpina for 6 months during the summer as I'm now working locally and then get another workhorse to keep the Alpina's mileage sensible) and I like the look of the C30 ... Taylors will be my first port of call.

Total cost inclusive of two new wiper blades - £471.11.
All parts used were genuine Volvo, as was the gearbox oil.

Did that include the timing belt and tensioners? For that price I assume it did which seems reasonable.

That was for the full 96,000 mile service as documented in the service schedule as required by Volvo.
Cambelt kit, auxillary belts, gearbox oil etc

hi i have just had my car serviced with frank taylor volvo in hinckley under the new family owners, who seem very nice and where at the dealership when i went: Len, Richard and Tony. The price i was quoted was £150 less than at Marshall Volvo in Melton Mowbray, this was for a 36000 miles service on my V70. This included a free loan car, and next time they will pick my car up free as well! Great Service still!
