Does anyone have any experience of living with a S60 SE 2.4T Bi-fuel (factory spec LPG engine)? Mate of mine is looking at getting one second hand from another relative, but he's a bit concerned about premature engine wear as he's heard that LPG can reduce the life of the engine.

What do you reckon?

Cheers!

Well Volvo fitted there cars with LPG at the factory so they had the full manufacturers warranty.

I wouldn't be at all concerned about the tales people hear that LPG is bad for engines etc.
OK some engines because of the slightly higher temperature LPG burns at has caused problems but the fact that Volvo fit it from the factory you wouldn't have anything to worry about.

I run a VAG 1.8T engine re-mapped to 230bhp on LPG and have so far covered over 60K miles on LPG with no issues at all.

My old man runs a fleet of LPG Volvo's and ran a dual fuel C70...

Never had any problems at all with regard to engine wear or anything to do with the fueling system.

Actually, we used to run LPG Omega's and they were awful, but never down to anything LPG related.

Quality, efficient and clean way to chug around

Paulie - i had one for about 6 months. The downside of ownership is that the performance was terrible and i only got a range of 250miles on a tank of LPG. So if your doing quite a few miles it gets hard to find LPG stations. I would try it first !

Yeah LPG isn't quite as efficient in terms of MPG as petrol is it? The car's predominantly going to be used for tootling round Cornwall so I reckon it will be OK for that.

Thanks again!
