V70 bent steering rack!!

......Old lady descided to drive to work yesterday in Blizzerd conditions. Much to the anoyance of myself and my old man, however she was convinced she would be fine.


Later arrives home from work (Thank-god), anyway the news that she brings is less welcome.

"I skidded on the snow, and thumped the car against the kerb (one of the old fashioned big dark-grey block kerbs), anyway form what Ive gathered the stearing is all over the place, and has developed sudden twitches that send the car all over the road.

At the moment the car is at our local garage, and the conclusion is not good - a bent steering rack.

So my question is - How much do these cost?, and how heafty a job is it?

Car is Volvo V70 estate T reg. 2.5D

This is very expensive if you go to Volvo main dealer,Im sure my local mechanic spoke of around £1200,however he supplied and fitted mine for around £500.Not 100% sure where he got it from , probably euro car parts or similar.Hope this is of some help.
