race-tune.com S60s at VW
Discussion
Walking around the variety of beautiful machines at Virginia Water today and came across two S60s. One pre-facelift R and one post-facelift D5 with race-tune.com decals.
There was no-one around, so I couldn't ask, but was just curious as to what had been done (if anything) in the way of mods. Obviously the wheels on the D5 were non-standard.
So if any of the guys from race-tune.com read this, maybe they can tell me?
Cheers.

www.race-tune.com
Should tell you everything there.
thanks spode. I'd already heard of race-tune.com when I was looking on the pw cars website recently. Was just curious specifically about the cars I saw really and whether they had any more unseen mods, other than (I assumed) the rica upgrade.
The S60R AWD is a perfectly standard car other than the RICA upgrade pushing it to 340bhp - admittedly sporting the old race-tune.com decals. The S60 D5 is another demonstrator with 204bhp and 450Nm. Both lots of fun!
Our black S60 D5 (Manual) with 215bhp ad 474.34Nm has just been returned to www.pwcars.co.uk for sale. We should have a new manual demonstrator shortly. Other demonstrators not at Virginia Waters were both our T5 RICA 310bhp cars - a V70 and an S60. Find out more at www.race-tune.com or www.d5-tuning.com

thanks Jezzi. Got a T5 myself, and I'm thinking what I could do to it. a RICA upgrade obviously being high up on my list

We can make a manual T5 310bhp and the auto goes to 304bhp. Can be done while you wait! Just in the process of trying to find my new S60 D5 - can't find the exact spec i need!
Hi Jezzi,
Have you got any independently verified power graphs / confirmation of the figures you're quoting, which you can post up? Thanks.

cheers Jezzi.
I've heard that the autos/geartronics can't handle the power as well. Is that the reason for the reduced power? Or just how the ECU works out? Because it's not much of a difference.
My only real concern, seeing as the car will be out of warranty soon anyway, is whether the power will cause any serious amount more wear on the transmission. I'm sure engine, suspension, drive shaft etc will be fine. But I don't want my torque converter to melt.
I'm guessing I can add a little more power on top of the ecu upgrade through exhaust, air filter and turbo mods, but is there any real benefit if I have a geartronic?
I am the UK distributor of MTE Swedish written software for all late model Volvos.
MTE and its associated company TME work with Volvo on some projects both in Sweden and North America.
MTE write different software for the manual and auto's to take into account the particular requirements of each.
You can check both www.mte.se and www.tme.se and of course contact me through the tab at the top of this forum, other good Volvo reading at www.volvoclub.org.uk and www.swedespeed.com

You say MTE have software for ALL late model Volvos, as far as I can see they have nothing available for the Diesel engines. Surely RICA are the only tuner that can claim to have software for ALL late model Volvos.

No such thing as independent verification? Unless you're talking about MIRA right?
I would recommend reading through the following, especially post 22:
