I have heard that there have been a few warranty problems with the XC90, includng suspension failures. Does anyone on here have any experience of this, as I am currently looking for one.

Early XC90's seem to eat wheel bearings, but thats about it!

As mentioned really, avoid the 2003 models, try and go for a 54 reg onwards car and you will be fine. Wheel bearings are a nightmare on the 03 stuff and yes have seen one car with suspension failure, surprise surprise a 2003 car!

Got an 04 model and the only problem so far has been the trim at the bottom of the passenger door window coming off. Replaced with no questions asked. Does anyone else find the handbrake set up crap, or is it just me?

Handbrake is o.k when you get used to it, doesnt need to be used anyway 90% of the time unless its parked on a really steep slope.

the later wheel bearings are now modified and should not fail again, only rear bearings are failing, think volvo have put extended warranty on them.

The trim at the bottom of the window on the drivers door is coming off on ours, replaced next week. They did want £80 for it, but one quick call to the sales guy and now being sorted FOC. Also small recall because the service interval light is somewhat keen!

Other than that, it's a brilliant family car.

Actually, now you come to mention it, the rear wheel bearings were replaced under warranty on my 04 model, but now i'm constantly aware of the odd suspension noise, i ask my passengers to clarify and we sit there like tts for a bout 5 minutes but then we can't hear anything. I will definately take it into the dealer when i'm back in December.
