Hi,
My V70 T5 estate needs a new set of tyres and I was thinking of trying something that would offer a bit more grip that the Pirelli p6000's that are on it at the moment. It's sitting on the standard 17" alloys that the T5's are fitted with, so guess tyre size is standard too.

Any suggestions as to what to try next ?
Thanks

Toyo proxes latest version, good on the V70AWD in the dry and very good in the wet, or Eagle F1's.

Million dollar question. I like the proxes due to the way a set cleared deep standing water one late night. I like the price also and the R version has a harder compound and cooler running construction.

Eagles F1 GSD are a very good tyre. I can recomend them with the same gusto as the proxes.

I went for the toyos due to in the end price.

Make sure you get the R version if you go for toyos.

Let me know how you get on with your set.

cheers

I WOULD GO FOR EITHER DUNLOP SP SPORT 9090 OR MICHELIN PILOT SPORT I HAVE BEEN A VOLVO SPECLAIST FOR TEN YEARS AND THESE WILL OUT LAST ANY OTHER AND PERFORM THE BEST.

I used to run Marshal Powerracers and sometimes Khumo's on my V70 T5.
The Marshals were great in the wet but a little soft in the dry. 6000 miles max out of a set. I could get a full set from my local garage for £150 fitted

If you own a V70 AWD watch the loadindex.
I am very happy with Goodyear F1 215/45/ZR/17 Loadindex 91.

Tried the toyo proxes on loads of recommendations however wasnt impressed, got the yokohamo AVS sports after those and they were massively better in the dry, as good in the wet and lasted longer, either are better than the P6000's though.

Many thanks everyone - local tyre fitter (who always give me a good price as we have all the company cars done there) have also suggested the Goodyears, so I'm going to have a go with those - as I do a fair mileage in the Volvo, I'll probably get to try another type before the end of the year.

Thanks again

I used to use Michelins and felt the sidewalls, at the correct pressures were a bit soft. I move to GDS3's and the flex has gone...

Just my 2p

Well 10 months and 27k down the road and............

........I've gone back to the Goodyears gds3's. IMO the Toyo's were too soft for the weight of the car and found that some of the tread blocks had been breaking away (very small bits but not something I have ever seen on a tyre before) and to be honest they didnt perform in the wet as well as the previous incarnation.

So back to Goodyear, CHINEASE Goodyears

Used to run mine on Falcons.
4 tyres for less than £200 and excellent wet handling.
