2021 Volvo V60 T8 Polestar - thoughts?
Discussion
Morning all, first post (all very exciting). Due to family reasons I'm looking to swap my BMW M2 competition for a Volvo V60. Yes, I now it won't be exciting or fun to drive etc but that's not priority for the new car. Does anyone have any experience of the pre 2022 version of the T8 polestar (i.e. the one one with super charger and the turbo, and before the increase in the electric motor power/size)? There is one for sale (2021 model) that I like the look of and it has everything I need, but I'm a bit wary of the complexity with a supercharger, turbo and hybrid system. Also wondering how quickly the electric boost runs out on longer drives when running in? Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Can't exactly help with the specific model but......had a 2021 V60 Momentum. The supercharger/turbo engagement was seamless. Never had a clue what was 'on' at anytime during driving. Not like my '95 850 T5R that has hilarious turbo lag if you wanted to accelerate rapidly but were in the wrong gear. : )
Currently have '24 V60 polestar. Much like the '21 it is beautifully seamless. From Pure electric thru to hybrid and back again. If you stomp on it ..... it gets going in a surprising hurry and seamless. No supercharger on this version. But the fatter battery gets 70ish km's which lasts 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes on the highway in Pure mode before running dry.

I was in this position a couple of weeks ago, test drove both the V60 t8 Polestar and non-polestar t8. I decided the polestar didn't justify the premium, dynamics only marginal if really throwing it about, and the 2021 polestar had some shortcomings over the regular t8 such as top speed down from 155 to 112, and no paddles. I bought a regular 2020 t8 last week and very very happy so far. Came out of an Audi S4 avant. Happy to answer any qs on initial impression but I'd recommend driving both.
Andrew. I drive a 21 plate 60 T8 polestar engineered it has a factory chip which increases power and tweaks drivetrain. I haven't explored the details but it's fast. I think this can be fitted as an option.
The normal power delivery in hybrid is pleasingly linear you find yourself going quick quite soon but you don't know exactly how you got there😯. A car writer had it up there with a Taycan. No. I don't know either.
Seriously the car is one of the best I've driven, and I've driven a few in my time. I thought about the polestar too but I'm very happy with the R styling version it's a bit of a sleeper.
It's tow car of the year too.
Servicing is a bit heavy but get on good terms with the Volvo garage and try will help you out mine did. Good thing is charging on long journeys you don't need to rely on chargers. It's great on motorways.
As I say I'm very happy with the car. I think I'll be hanging onto it or a while.
