08 plate V70 issues.
Discussion
I'm just after a bit of advice if possible.
Two days ago I bought an 08 plate V70 from a used car dealer and everything was fine. It was a dry, sunny day and the car seemed to be in very good condition so I bought it for a very reasonable price.
Anyway, I drove it the 150 miles home and it was perfect and never missed a beat. I left it parked up all weekend and got into it this morning and the battery was nearly flat and all the electrics were going haywire!
I got it running and managed to move it but most of the electrics are unresponsive. It seems during some torrential rain over the weekend that water has been leaking through the top of the windscreen and soaked the inside of the car. I've had to disconnect the battery as the fan wants to run all the time!
I am disappointed the garage never mentioned to me about the windscreen leaking I must say, and I know it's a cheap car and I have no comeback so I will just have to try my best to dry it all out.
So the question I have for the knowledgeable people on here is, when I get it all dried out etc is it still likely the car electrics will still be troublesome? Obviously they are very sensitive to moisture and I'm wondering whether the car will recover from this?

What makes you think you have no "comeback"?Two days ago I bought an 08 plate V70 from a used car dealer and everything was fine. It was a dry, sunny day and the car seemed to be in very good condition so I bought it for a very reasonable price.

Unless you bought it as a spares or repairs, you 100% have.
But it doesn't have to have a warranty to have to comply with the Consumer Rights Act.

I could be wrong, and maybe others know more, but I would be banging on their door & stating that the car is "not of merchantable quality" and exercising my right to a refund.
CAB could be a good call, but do it quickly.

I can't answer your question but a leaking screen (at the top) was/is a well known problem on a phase 3 V70
and I feel that a motor trader should have been aware of a common problem. Push the screen with your hand from the inside of the car and you will see or feel the screen move away from the body.
Volvo do not want to know unless you've had the car from new and always had it serviced at a Volvo main dealer.
The dead battery might be a coincidence and a separate problem.
IF you can get no joy from the dealer I would change the battery, (or maybe just charge it up?) and see if that cures the electrics,
and if so, then get the screen replaced - the new screens have an improved fixing.
