XC70 Insurance
Discussion
Hi good people.
We have just changed our V70, which died, for an XC70 for my wife's dog walking business.
Came to insurance time and the XC is twice the price of the V.
Anyone have a clue why when they are basically the same car, the XC in newer by 4 years but is still old as it is literally a car to fill with dogs?
Anyone else found this or is there a "go to" insurer I should be talking to?

I've not fond our 2013 XC70 to be unusual for insurance. Direct Line last year, then AA this year. £400 or so, for me and her, both around 40, relatively safe postcode, 8,000 miles.
Yours isn't something strange like a Japanese import T6 that's a pain to repair?
Nothing strange about the car. Very safe post code £211 for renewal on V70, £400 for the XC70, both from Churchill it seems strange.as I have checked a comparison website and they agree with the higher figure.Yours isn't something strange like a Japanese import T6 that's a pain to repair?
Will try a couple of others like Directline and Adrian Flux.
Is it a mid contract change? If so they'll probably assume they charge whatever knowing full well your options are paying it or cancel the policy and restart elsewhere.
As for being dearer, can't say I've noticed it... not significantly so. I've run various V70 models over the past few years, all have been in the region of £200 to £250 annually..
Last year my current 08 XC70 was £240 fully comp, £600 at renewal which I declined, spent ten minutes on Compare the Market and Tesco insured it for £260 with identical cover and terms. For comparison, they also insure my 07 V50 diesel on the exact same terms for £180, but it barely does 2k a year, the XC is nearer 15k and is valued at three times more.

Insurance in general has gone up.
LV quoted me £350 more this year over last year for my multicar policy.
Most quotes elsewhere were similar. Finally got a similar price to last year with Hastings Direct.
You need to spend the time getting quotes from loads of companies - and it seems getting the quote 2-3 weeks before the policy is due to start helps get a cheaper price also.

I keep hearing this but there must be something weird about my insurance.LV quoted me £350 more this year over last year for my multicar policy.

Throughout a WIDE range of cars (325 track day, 328 track day, 523i, 530 sport, e53 track day, v40 1.6d, v50 1.6d) my insurance hasn't changed significantly over the last 15 (ish) years.
It has stubbornly been between £280 & £350, currently £314.
