XC60 pre-heat oddity
Discussion
Afternoon all!
My utterly dreadful first ever and last ever Volvo, a MY21 XC60 PHEV does, at least have preheating from the app that works pretty well...
Or should I say "did"?
It used to be that I'd turn it on and it would tell me the car would be warm and toasty in anything from 3 to 10 minutes. For the past couple of weeks, however, it has decided to tell me it's going to take 29 minutes to warm up!
To make it even more frustrating, it still seems to actually heat up quite a bit faster than this, then just turn the heater off again, and on recent mornings at -8º, the bloody thing gets cold again in no time!
Has anyone else seen the same sort of thing?
I see no point on asking Volvo themselves as they'll doubtless tell me (again!) that it's a software fault they're working on and string it out for almost a year to try and weasel out of an expensive warranty claim, and, always looking for those silver linings, at least I will have been able to give the accursed thing back by then so that I can replace it with something more reliable like an Austin Allegro!

My V60 T6 MY21 had a similar issue. It would preheat and worked really well. Then it started to become more problematic and stopped working. It would not heat the vehicle in electric only mode. It was still under warranty so took it to the dealer to get it fixed.. they seem fairly familiar with the problem, so I imagine it’s a common fault.

Oh joy!The last warranty issue I had - electric drive cutting out for a second or two more and more frequently when pulling away then kicking over to petrol - they left me driving a dangerous car for almost 9 months whilst trying to tell me it was a fking software fault!
Thankfully I reach the end of the lease in a few months and will never, ever have to spend a single penny with Volvo ever again, as I'm not sure I could handle another warranty claim!

I have an XC60 MY21 on lease. It’s a T8. 11 months to go until lease runs out and I cannot wait. Here’s some of the joys I’ve had (last one sort of similar but different to your problem OP)
- on purchase. It was Jan 22 and supply problems well known so I told the dealer to be honest about any missing bits. Only when I collect it (having sold my other car) do I find out if t doesn’t have the leather dash, no illuminated key co plates and no vehicle proximity lights in the wing mirrors. I did get £2k knocked off bit not a great start
- 6 months in the rear gearbox needed replacing. Quite a lot of miles lugging around a heavy PHEV on engine only. Great
- 1 year in and climate control fails. No heating or de-icing for months while they tried to source the parts (by plural parts, I mean 3 of the same thing as 2 other customers had exact same problem
- 1.5 years in the charging is sporadic.
- 2 years in I find that if I use pre-heat I lose about 15 miles of range when I get in in the morning even though it’s on charge. Never used to do that.
- regularly have to reboot the Google system.
- minor point, but when getting car serviced at Volvo Colchester last month they very helpfully didn’t bother to tell me they’d moved wasting about 30 mins in rush hour, just to get 2 miles
Utterly st experience from beginning to end. Car looks good and does have a nice feel to controls etc, but never getting another one of these again.
