Polestar Performance Optimisation
Discussion
Hi all,
I have recently bought an xc70 with the D5 engine. ( 2.4ltr) Volvo are offering a "Polestar Performance Optimisation" package for it.
Has any one had this done? It already has 220 hp and I believes it boosts it to nearly 300.
The car feels "heavy" compared to my wife's S80 with a D2 1.6 diesel in it. That car is not designed for fast, and we like it for what it is.
Does the fuel consumption suffer or even improve if the mapping is tinkered with?
I am interested in any comments
cheers

You gain 10hp and 30nm. Not sure where you got your figures from. I have recently bought an xc70 with the D5 engine. ( 2.4ltr) Volvo are offering a "Polestar Performance Optimisation" package for it.

If you look on the Volvo website you can search the model and it will show the increases.

They used to do a 14 day trial too. I think it’s a lot of money for a relatively small increase in power.

Hello all,
Thanks for the replies, appears that I may have either been misled or not heard properly the advice I was given.
So Thanks for the link. For the improvement of 5% and little elsewhere I think I will spend the money elsewhere, as at the end of the day this car is an estate barge, and I can see little benefit for the improvement that I would notice.
I would rather put the money towards a BBR improvement on my MX5 that would show a massive gain, but then it cost 10 times more haha.
I am happy enough with the XC70, it feels heavy as I said compared to our S80 with the tiny D2 1.6 diesel engine, which is the perfect motorway cruiser for my wife returning near on 55-65 mpg at times.
The XC70 is going to be used for pulling a caravan when we get it in a couple of weeks (yes another hold up on the road in front of you!), but unlike our old V70 that we had for 23 years this car should be able to "get on with it" with the extra horses it has over our last V70, and pull across wet fields etc with the extra traction the 4x4 provides.
I imagine the "Polestar" conversion would add extra to the insurance premiums which I would have made enquiries about if I really wanted it, but most mods in performance come with a loading, after all I am a 59 year old boy racer.... not...
The XC70 is a fine car, I may have just bought one of the newest ones with very low miles on it for the year (just gone over 40 k) So expect it to serve as well as our old V70 that did us proud for 268k miles until a water pump failed on the M27 writing the engine off.
cheers again
