V70 D5 rattling clutch

I have a 2013 ex Police Volvo V70 D5 Manual. Clutch was replaced in 2019 about 31,000 miles ago. Police did around 400 on the new clutch miles before selling it.

Though the gear change seems perfect, clutch rattles when fully engaged. The peddle also has a a bit of play within the first few cm. Car pulls really well, no sign of clutch slip or any issues changing into any of the gears.

Any ideas which the issue could be?

Could it be that the police had the DMF changed for a SMF.

Thanks for your reply. Would that become noisier with age?, don't recall it being loud when I bought it.

Single mass tend to be noisy from the start, unless it was a "silent" single mass which I had fitted once to a car.

Likely knackered DMF. I'd suggest replacing with another DMF, NOT a SMF.

Unlikely the cops would replace anything with other than like for like. Here's some simple tests to help pin down where the issue lies.
