Hi all,

I lost power on A34 the other day, loads of lights came on, including the dread engine management light.
Volvo couldn't see my car until the 15th March WTF, so I took it to my local garage who said no. 3 injector is faulty, and that I would have to take it to Volvo for a new one because of coding a new one to the car.
Luckily for me they did look at it today, and said yep faulty injector and about £800 to fix (wife took the call so i hope that includes vat)
They said to her best to change all 4 whilst they had it, so a small outlay for about £3,000 !!! what!!!
So I told her to tell them to just change the one faulty one at this time.
Car is a low mileage car at about 32k with 9k of those put on it since we bought it about 10/11 months ago

Questions are.....

How common is this?
Should or do all 4 require changing?
We had an old 1999 V70 for 23 years and that only died because of the water pump failing.
Why can't non dealers do this work? Shameful to be so expensive or is this because these are expensive bits of kit?

All 4 is based on the theory that they are all the same age/mileage & if one has gone, the others may not be far behind, having said that, I would just do the one.

Non-dealers can do this if they have the right software, and there are plenty that do.

Many thanks for the reply. We can't have the car off the road, so paid £805 painful ponds for the car back on the road. It has only 35k miles so hopefully now the car is being used properly and getting some miles in it that will be the end of it, just a bit of bad luck
