(2006 model)

My car won’t start and it doesn’t crank. I really need help.

I’m including the error codes below.

You can bump start the car by putting wire across the relay in the bonnet, so it’s not the starter motor or solenoid. When the error codes were cleared no codes relating to the key were left. The AA guy said he’d send the cleared codes but he didn’t so I can’t provide them, but there was nothing about the key.

The immobiliser wouldn’t allow communication to it when a scan was performed. Pulled the dash back, but no obvious signs of water or damage on wires or wiring looms. In the few days prior to it not cranking or starting, the car had to be tried a couple of times to get it to start.

Advised by someone over phone (not seen car) that he’s dealt with similar with this model of car and the problem has been with the CECM, central electronics control module - NOT the CEM under passenger footwell. It is the black box right at the back of the dash.

Any advice of what to do? Should I buy the CECM part? Does it come ready programmed or will I need to programme it? Is it even likely to be the CECM or should I use a multimeter to check everything?

Please help? All advice would be really appreciated!

That is an impressive list of faults!

I have no experience with the P1 S40 but I'd think that points towards the CEM rather than all those other units having faults

I've used this place for a couple of repairs before - if you can get the unit out and post it to them, they can test an repair if necessary
