Hi, just purchased (& collected) for MrsC a used XC60 from a reasonable sized independent garage. I’ve noticed the tyres aren’t matched between each axle but instead side to side. The supplying dealer’s technician has advised me that the TPMS are coded to each corner....is this true as I obviously want to swap the wheels so that the tyres are matching on each axle without having to swap the tyres off of 2 of the rims?!

Yes its true, however some relearn the new position (BMW) some need to be told (Ford)

what age is the car ? some don't have sensors but work off the ABS system.

The 2016 XC60 the ex Mrs Stickelback had used one of those half arsed TPMS systems (I think called an implied system rather than direct) that uses ABS sensors rather than in wheel sensors, so it won't care what you do it'll just go off when it feels like it anyway hehe

If it has rubber bodied valves then most likely its the indirect system,

My 2021 V60 still has the same. I was very surprised when I saw it having had a Merc which could display individual pressure on a phone app!
