S60 (2008) Bluetooth upgrade

Hi all,

I’ve recently picked a 2008 S60 shed, it’s ok so far but the lack of apple CarPlay is killing me. A bit of Googling has led me to these adapters for my HU-850;

I’ve read a couple of guides to removing the head unit and it seems straightforward if a bit fiddly, but a lot of the guides are for LHD or different versions of the S60 (or other Volvo models all together), is it as simple as removing the gear surround, undoing two torx bolts and wiggling the stereo out? Then the adapter goes into the auto changer slot?

If anyone has any experience with these adapters it would be really helpful!

Fitted one on the dog wagon a few months ago,
If an auto put lever as far back as possible, use a magnetic torx driver for when you drop them :-)
DO NOT unplug climate unit or it may cause a world of error codes and pay attention to how the fitting clips sit for re fitting.

I use a Brodit mount to hold phone as well

As above. It’s not a difficult job. Worst bit I found was getting the headunit back in as the wiring harness behind is quite substantial and room limited.
As already said, don’t go anywhere near the climate unit.

That said, for £30 I think it’s a great little gadget. Very very occasionally it fails to pair but its rare. Overall, for the cost you can’t knock it. Cracking bit of kit.
