Hi all,

I'm looking for a replacement for my ageing but fantastically reliable Mondeo Titanium and the above model caught my eye. It appears to be the 5 cylinder model and I'm just looking for pointers on how good/reliable the model is, and in particular the engine.

Is it able to handle short journeys with a longer weekly/two weekly run, or is it likely to throw up expensive problems? Is it a nice engine to use generally? My last 4 Mondeos were all petrol models and I never experienced a breakdown in 15 years. Just looking for a change/upgrade.

Others may know better, but I believe it is the same engine as used in many fords.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I know that Ford used the 5 cylinder petrol engine in the early Focus ST and the Mondeo for a while.

I'm not sure about the diesel version though. I believe that there was an exchange of chassis and engines, similar to Ford and Mazda. Cheers.
