Hi,

So I found a video for this but when I followed the instructions it didn't work. My car is right hand drive where as his is left hand drive, though I wouldn't have thought that would count, my car is 2010 he says his is 2009.

Tried this one too, I still have it, the dashboard shows a picture of a spanner and the number 126? IS there another way? I have to get more tyres soon so will hope the garage does it however the last garage who gave me an oil change wouldn't clear it, they wanted to do a load of other work to the jokers. Thanks in advance.

Success, I found this video and it worked for me, it was a different sequence, all I did was have it on T2, press start once, hold Trip button and start for quiet a while, it eventually made chime and shows the flash i light, at which point I let go of both buttons.

Does anyone here know if there is any benefit to resetting anything on the dashboard? It tells me I am averaging 30mph but this is nonsense, I wonder does the car learn a driving style like BMWs can? Is there anything I can do in terms of improving MPG?

Assuming it's the service interval warning, then why should a garage reset that whilst fitting tyres? Also, as per your previous posts... you opted to get a basic oil change done then call out the garage as being "jokers" for declining to reset the service indicator. Poor form on your part as an oil change is not the car being serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations so the garage were under no obligation to reset the light.

Absolutely none. Your fascination with the on board computer is misguided... all it's doing it reporting data calculated using very basic parameters like distance, speed and fuel used and as I've said previously, it's not the most accurate of system either due to the tolerances involved. It's there for guidance and resetting the trip / average MPG with do nothing aside for starting to recalculate from that point onwards. It doesn't learn or adapt.

As for what you can do to improve your MPG... inflate the tyres more, empty all the ste out the boot, go on a diet, free wheel down hills, don't thrash it, ever... sit at 56mph slip streaming lorries, change the filters regularly, decoke the EGR, check the calipers aren't dragging, only drive it when the weather is warmer and avid uphill gradients. Where do you start with that and where do you stop? But it's also nigh on 2 tons of Volvo with a 5 cylinder engine and so I'm not sure what it is you were expecting as far as fuel economy goes?
