Morning,
Having bought my first volvo last year (V70 Estate with the 2.5 5 cylinder turbo S lump) and falling in love with it my dad has now 'borrowed' that car off me (he is in his 70's and needs space for his scooter) so don't think I'll see that again for a while.
After 6 months without the V70 I've picked up a C30 D3 so has the 5 cylinder 150bhp diesel, also liked the shape of these remind me of the old 480 which i always liked as a kid (we had a 340 I learnt to drive in 25 years ago)
This has joined my other stuff, another swedish car in the shape of a saab 9-3 ragtop aero, RS Megane and a Jag XJS.
Puts my cylinder count at a worrying 30 but at least can only drive one at a time.
I must say the C30 feels solid and well put together, the drive is great, the boot is useless. I did fancy a c30 T5 ideally a polestart option one (remap from factory) but like rocking horse and the bhp didnt seem worth the £ considering i have the RS megane still.

If you can get/find the solid parcel shelf then the boot becomes more practical.
Great handling car based on the mk2 focus chassis so can handle decent power.
I liked my 1.8 petrol engined one that I had for serveral years.
As long as you can fit the item through the hatch there is quite alot of space in the boot especially with the seats down. (Glass shower screen and doormat for scale.)

This is what you need but it is £160 :/

The black and white leather wears really well and doesnt look grubby after a time either.

I’ve got a C30 T5, love it and 5 years into ownership have no plans to change.
The thing the I found frustrating with it wasn’t boot space, but when the kids got in the back, the front seats didn’t return to their original position.
Easily solved, they always got in the passenger side so I didn’t have to re adjust my seat.
One largish, unexpected bill in my ownership was when steering lock/ immobiliser played up, around £400 to fix if I recall, but other than that it’s cost nothing over the routine tyres and servicing that all cars require.

Thanks for the link to the parcel shelf, if this was a nice low mile minter i wouldn't hesitate but as a high mile daily type car think i struggle to justify that much £ on a shelf.
Although i guess its about the same price as having the rear windows tinted which is what i was considering to keep the boot private.
fingers crossed no elec issues with this one, the wife saab 9-3 just started with the dreaded ignition switch module sticking so thats just been ordered.

Sorted wife Saab out with new Ignition Switch Module and as that only took about an hour i decided to try and figure out the Parrot Bluetooth kit that came wired into the C30.
New battery in the remote and I was quite surprised, it has a Volvo logo on start up and has been very well installed. Linked my phone and now play podcasts etc and usual call features. nice surprise i had just been ignoring it sticking out the dash for the last month or so.
Used the V70s on Saturday to take some big items to/from the storage unit and forget how nice that thing is, soft suspension, great visibility and 200+bhp with auto box, ticks a lot of boxes.
