V60 rear trolley jack points
Discussion
I need to change my rear shocks this weekend. I had a look earlier and the onto actual jacking point I can see is the pinch weld point on the sill, I did a test lift with my trolley jack on this very thin bit of metal and yes it lifted the car and didn't warp at all, but it just didn't feel right. The rest of the underside seems very clad with plastic guards!
Do I just lift on this?
Also, can I just put jack stands under the rear axle?
Just want to make sure before making any silly mistakes.
Thanks!

Trolley jack on the marked jacking points using a rubber jack pad or a small block of wood. If it can withstand its weight being supported on the crappy Volvo jack / the sill then it'll be fine with a trolley jack. As for stands, on the rear sub frame is as good as any. You'll want the rear suspension unweighted for doing shocks so don't put then under the trailing arms or similar. I'd also check the top mounts whilst you're in there - I'm sure some V60's were upgraded to steel but the alloy ones can crack, they all do it sir.

That's a 2020 V60... doubt he's doing shocks on one of those. But, you never know... Gassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
