V70 - Ignition key won't fully disengage
Discussion
I bought a very well maintained V70 2.4 D5 a few months ago and I have been gradually sorting out some minor issues with a view to keeping the car for a good few years. Last night it did something odd and I’m hoping that one of you good people may be able to enlighten me on the subject.
When I parked up, I switched off the engine using the “start/stop engine” button. I then pressed the end of the key to eject it from its receptacle, which it did as normal. However, when I went to pull the ejected key from its housing, it was still partially engaged and wouldn’t pull out completely. I pushed back in and ejected it a few times but always it remain partially engaged. Eventually I gave it a more energetic tug and it did come out. I pushed it back in and there was more resistance than I would expect but it did go in. To get it back out again it still needed a reasonable pull.

I did see the video above on YouTube (sorry, can't get link to work) where it describes a small amount of damage in the key slot causing an issue where the key is completely jammed but my problem appears to be different and I can’t see any broken parts in the key slot.
The car still starts fine and the fact that the key is a bit harder to retrieve doesn’t really bother me, it’s the fact that something may catastrophically fail at some point and I’ll be left stranded.
Has anyone had a similar issue, and what was the outcome or solution?
