XC-90 D / Engine Oil Leak from Bell housing

[SS427 Camaro]

2004 model is p out engine oil from the bell housing.

Anyone else had this happen ?

If it's not wet above the bell housing, then could be the crankshaft oil seal.

Behind the flywheel is a core plug, up to 2004/5 they were a rubberiesed one, over time the rubber degrades and eventually the core plug begins to creep out of its hole until it gets clipped by the flywheel thus turning it 90 degrees, it will be a gear box out job to fix, the replacment is an upgraded metal plug, the part itself is only a few quid but the labour cost for doing it? a lot.
