V60 D4 Fuel-like smell in cab
Discussion
I've had the car (2013 V60 - 154k Miles) since July and have noticed on and off a fumey-fuel smell in the cabin, not really outside of the car though. Seems to come and go. The car runs perfectly, just been serviced too.
Are there any usual suspects for such an issue? It is a fairly strong smell, especially if you exit the car and go back into it.
It is worse when stationary too. Hard to describe exactly what the smell is like, it's not bad enough to give you a headache, or be a really nasty smell, just smells a bit fumey. I doubt my partner has even noticed anything is off.
My only thought is it does it when the DPF is regenerating, but it seems too frequent for that. I don't drive it every day, so hard to tell. I might take it for a blast tomorrow and rev the nuts off it. It does do more short journeys than long ones. Maybe an average of 200 a week or so. Saying that, it went for a good run at high speed yesterday and I still smelt it this morning after my partner had driven it 8 miles to my workplace.
Or, I did think could it potentially be the cabin air filter? I know they are notoriously fiddly to change on these, so I wouldn't be surprised that even with FVSH before I got it, if they didn't change it. I'll do a test and see if it does it when the a/c is off too.
Very peculiar. I wouldn't say it is any worse than when we got the car, but I don't think it is normal.
Thanks
My drive to work this morning (the next day) and no smell whatsoever. I gave it some beans and let it sit as well. Couldn't reproduce it...!

Anything to do with the drop in outside temperature, nearly all my diesels, and my V60 smells more fumy when the weather is colder, especially on cold start sat idling - any correlations to this?
Check for any leaking from injectors, or an old favourite the flexi hose near the top of the exhaust into cat section - these can break and cause fumes to enter when started up

I've worked out it does it after a drive and is idling. Check for any leaking from injectors, or an old favourite the flexi hose near the top of the exhaust into cat section - these can break and cause fumes to enter when started up
I injectors 4+5 are a bit wet around the top end, but not exactly soaked... Just a bit of oily residue. Could even be from spillage from the service honestly
Today, driving along, the car lost a lot of power for about 3 minutes. Randomly lost power in most gears and would struggle to maintain speed, no warning lights. Then it randomly came back on and was fine for the next 50 miles. Could be related? I'd just filled up with V Power fuel as well.
To be fair, it is a high mileage diesel, so I shouldn't be too surprised about some smells, but it's more the loss of power that is a bit concerning!! First time in the 2500 miles since we got the car. Might just keep an eye on it and see if it does it again... Seems odd that'd I'd just filled up with fuel and was straight onto dual carriageway.
