XC60 T6 Recharge - likely real world mpg?
Discussion
After 3 very uncomfortable months of Audi Q5 ownership I'm thinking of jumping ship into an XC60 T6 Recharge - sat in one at the local dealership yesterday and like it a lot.
But..the quoted mpg of 100+ or whatever it is is laughable, and there's not many reviews on youtube, keen to hear some owners experiences please.
We do around 12000-15000 miles each year. About 5000 of that is a commute of 12 miles each way on motorway, with charging available at the other end, and I'd also get a charger fitted at home. There's probably another 1000 miles pottering about locally to the shops and to see family. The remainder of the mileage is longer weekend trips away for hillwalking, so a mix of motorway and A/B roads at 40-70mph doing anywhere between 50-150 miles at a time.
Is it really easy to run on electric only for commuting and pottering about locally, or will the petrol engine kick in if you are going uphill, accelerating up a sliproad etc?
On longer motorway or country road drives, with a full charge beforehand, will I still see decent mpg, or once I'm past 25 miles on electric am I driving a 30/35mpg petrol engine for the rest of the day?
Thanks in advance

I am picking up a V60 T6 in a few weeks and like you most of my trips are under 30 miles or my 25 mile commute with charging at each end, so it will be interesting. I also think that performance is quite exciting and certainly one of the appeals for me. I’m also considering a Polestar2 or C40 as my second car. (The whole Volvo range is superb, the exterior styling is subtle and discreet and the interior build quality is second to none.)
I’ve had mine for a few days now. I can report that 25 EV miles under a mix of round town and A-road is realistic. The newer cars with a 55 miles longer range should give 50 miles in real world. This opens up the value of the car beyond the BIK save.
On a 3.7kW wall charger, full recharge is less than 3.5 hours. On a 3-pin domestic socket around 6 hours.
Octopus Go - has a smart tariff with super cheap electricity for 5p/kWh between 00:30 - 04:30 every night. A good saving over the cost of petrol or diesel.
As for the rest of the car, is just a very pleasant place to be; an enjoyable, smooth, comfortable drive. It isn’t a ‘sporty’ character, and all the better for it.

Can I ask when you ordered it and how long it took to arrive? On a 3.7kW wall charger, full recharge is less than 3.5 hours. On a 3-pin domestic socket around 6 hours.

I ended up ordering an XC60 last month, but went for the mild-hybrid diesel in the end as I couldn't find much real world data to justify the higher cost of the Recharge PHEV.
It's not a company car so for me purely boiled down to how much it costs to fuel 15k miles each year in diesel vs. petrol+electricity+higher cost of vehicle.

Is there a way of manually selecting between electric and liquid fuel power ?
Or is that done automatically ?
Its just that my SIL had one as a courtesy car and over a 20 mile day round town, used 5 L of fuel.
Did she brim it at the end of the day and it had not been brimmed at the start? Have test driven xc40 phev and xc90 phev and you can choose petrol only, EV only or a mix. (If it were not charged at the start of the at that wouldn’t help either)Or is that done automatically ?

In the V60 Recharge Plug-In, there are 3 drive states, all selectable via a menu - PURE (electric only), POWER (both electric and petrol), HYBRID (vehicle decides).
It is also possible to charge the battery from the engine while driving, plus it is also possible to 'hold charge' until another time.
