Cross posting this so might get taken down. Mods if needed could they be merged into here?

Evening all

I'm in the market for a workhorse for general duties and lugging stuff to the tip, dealing with the daughters horse etc. etc.

I've found what I think fits the bill in the form of a White Volvo v60 R Design, 1.6D with "DRIVEe", which if my googling is good means that it's turbo charged, supercharged AND does dome sort of energy recovery?

It has a tow bar and in this trim has decent seats and decent audio albeit no carplay etc. but that I can live with.

Anyone ever owned one and can give some pointers?

Edit, it's a 2012 plate if that matter.

I bought one a few months ago as my daily driver. Mines is the D2 1.6 R design, it has the super comfy seats. It's brilliant on fuel for my daily work commute of 60 miles but struggled a bit with towing a large trailer with a car on the back of it. I'd say it depends on what's more important, for me it was a need for a comfy, reliable, cheap, efficient car for work. It ticks all the boxes and more. I've been very happy with it so far. If you need to tow, I'd probably go for a 2ltr as my 1.6 struggled with the large trailer. It's ok with a bike rack carrying 4 bikes as you can see in the picture.

The 2.0 is a better engine for reliability. In fact, it is a better engine overall, IMO.

The 1.6 is probably a bit too underpowered for such a heavy car. I haven't driven the 1.6 though, I have a D4 which goes like stink

Thanks.

Typically i found a car that's perfect but is 172 miles away. Apparently Scotland doesn't like D5's smile

Get a video walkaround to confirm condition etc, then get on a train!

C70's are nice enough. A family member has a much older, petrol auto one.

D5 is the engine to get, so good choice. Bonkers mileage on that! That'll only have average 4k or so miles a year though, so just make sure all the servicing it up to date and hasn't been scrimped on.

I'd say it is probably fairly strong money for it, but then again, it is a garage and it is very low mileage.

They do a V60 with a 2.0 5 cylinder engine badged a D3, 2010-2014 I think, I have a '13 plate one.

£30 tax and enough grunt you will ever need, highly un-stressed being a 5-pot, basically a detuned 2.4 with one turbo, and sounds rather good aswell for a diesel.

Worth looking for mate, mentioned in another thread, the 1.6d is a good motor but fully laden it's abit lethargic, it will go but takes abit more (test drive them back to back, was night and day), remember the V60 is a 1700kg car already without anything extra!

I’ve sold my soul. I’ve bough a (admittedly very well equipped) Peugeot 508.
