I've had a test drive in a D5 S80, it was a 2007 and the ride was smooth and stable and seemed to iron out the road well.
The engine was silent when do accelerating but did hear tyre roar.

Was wondering if anyone here has driven both a S60 and S80 and can comment on the ride and noise difference between the two.

Does the S60 (or even S40) actually have less noise insulation then a S80.

The S60 P3 in the UK all came with Volvos 'Dynamic' suspension pack as far as I'm aware, which means they do have a bit of a firmer ride.

My V60 is certainly firmer than my P2 S60 was, even though my S60 had Uprated aftermarket suspension.

The S80/V70 if non sports optioned, certainly have a more composed low speed ride.

Noise wise my V60 is very quiet at motorway speeds so that shouldn't be an issue for you, its almost as quiet as my XF.

Thanks for the insight.

Missed on an S80 today and not many about that fit the bill so good to know a V60 is good for noise suppression as may go that route.

Yeah I really like our V60.

It was an accidental purchase, I couldn't turn it down for the price it was, and it's a superb car.

People complain about the load space but I think it's pretty big! I fit a 3 seater sofa in with the seats down and the back board removed.

Great on fuel as well.
