Are you trying to measure the speed?!
Why the headlight? Could you go by the wheel diameter? Or day running light.
A pothole. It's the only reasonable reference point in one of the pics I took and as it was a busy road I wasn't going to crouch there with a tape measure. If I can get an idea of the height of the light, I can roughly extrapolate the depth of the pothole. Why the headlight? Could you go by the wheel diameter? Or day running light.
My initial claim in to the council for the £300 tyre that was destroyed hitting the hole at 60mph has been declined so I'm having to step it up a gear...

C30 used the same lights as the s40/v50 too.
Pedant mode but no, the C30 and C70 are different. As for your dimensions, anything to escape the wife and crap telly for five minutes...
Ground to base of headlight = 500mm
Headlight height = 160mm
Can't see how that'll help given the car pictured is further back and the image is taken from above the pothole. You'd be better going back when it's quiet with a long baton, a tape measure, your camera and a spotter.

It actually looks as though there are two layers of tarmac visible in the picture which suggests that the pothole is/was there a long time and deep enough to knacker a tyre. It was a really abrupt edge from the bottom of the hole back to the road surface that did it.
Thanks for the info!

I should put that pothole at about 0.12m deep at a guess, I spend most of my working life estimating dimensions of things by eye especially from photography.
Probably of no practical use but there you go.
I'd agree with that - and probably 500-600mm in length? It's also wide enough for a 255/35/20 wheel to drop into.Probably of no practical use but there you go.

Per my previous post, it's a 60-mile round trip for something which may or may not even still be there - it was around 2-3 months ago it happened.
Ah apologies, only skimmed the thread. It's taken this long for WSCC to tell me they're not liable for the tyre replacement. Next step is FOI request asking for lots of info...
