Anyone running a Volvo V60 D4?
I made a mistake buying a BMW 318i touring M Sport as a daily and it's now up for sale & I've also just sold my Jag F Pace.
I've now got my heart set on a Volvo V60 as a daily but there seems to be about 30 different models.
I've seen a V60 D4 R design Lux, the spec seems very good. The seats look much higher spec.
Looking at 8k price point or lower.
Can anyone share experiences of running a V60?

I run a D5 which is a 5cyl opposed to the 4cyl in the D4 so can’t answer much on the engine side but there have been a few problems with the 4cyl mainly around the egr valves I think but hopefully should be sorted by the previous owner. 6sp Auto box can be problematic as the Geartronic likes a flush to remain healthy which is fine but Volvo decided it was a sealed for life unit and so owners don’t bother. If you hear a ‘clunk’ when moving from P to either R or D then run away quickly - they can be fixed but it’s a couple of grand either way. Around 60k is the recommended fluid change time, look for evidence or budget accordingly (couple of hundred quid). Alternatively, get a manual.
R-design is a sharpish body kit, sports seats and stiffer suspension. No doubt on 19’ wheels as well so check you’re happy with the ride. It’s not incredibly stiff in comparison but compared to a se Lux, but it will be noticeable.
Equipment levels are good but options fitted vary wildly. For instance I’ve a front facing camera but the previous owner didn’t spec a rear one. Why?????????. Try and get one with BLIS as it’s dead handy and if they’ve specced that then the chances are they’ve ticked an awful lot of other boxes as well.
Comfort in general is good and makes a fine long distance cruiser. It won’t win any prizes in the twisties but on the motorway it excels. Make sure you’re happy with the boot, it ain’t the biggest despite being a Volvo and has a weird slant in the roof that hampers the boot opening a bit. If you’re lugging buggies and bikes, check beforehand.
Reliability on mine has been first rate. 5 years now and about 40k miles and outside routine servicing I’ve replaced a set of tyres and the rear pads and a sensor (warranty job) and that’s it! I normally replace my car every three years but I’m hanging on to this one.
Volvo servicing can be pricey but you get a years free euro breakdown cover for free so needs to factored in. You can visit the Volvo site to give you an idea on servicing costs.
All round, I’m happy with it. They still look smart, are incredibly safe, have enough power and is a comfy place to spend your commute.

Cheers for the detailed feedback.
I should have pointed out the model I'm looking at is a 2015 D4 Nav, manual. The boot space just needs to hold 4 decent size suitcases, I would be planning to add a top box and tow bar for a bike rack. The car is on 91,000 miles, has a detailed full service history with recent belt & water pump changed in Nov. Priced at £7800 which I feel is a good deal. The car is a beautiful Osmium Grey metallic. It's on 18" alloys and looks in fantastic condition. I'm looking to view the car over the next couple of days to test the ride comfort.

I have a 2017 V60 D4 R-Design Lux Nav which I have had for 2 years. I bought it at 8,000 miles and put 35,000 miles on it in a year. It is a really comfy car to travel in. The D4 has the 8 speed auto which can be a bit slow to change but I find my OK but it does have the Polestar software update which improves the gear shifting.
On a run will easily achieve low to mid 50 mpg. I have hardly used it in the last year and on short runs I am getting 40-42 mpg.
I have thought about changing it for a petrol something but I cannot find anything worth changing for.

I have an XC60 D4, 2014 2WD so same drivetrain and interior I believe. 180bhp 6 speed manual version, I think they got a boost to 190bhp in 2015.
I think they are handsome (both V and XC) and the interior is a nice place to be, especially with sat nav (the screen is bigger) and the Volvo TFT cockpit display (which mine doesn't have sadly, but can be retrofitted). Mine is an SE and the seats are OK.
Annoyingly I think the interior wasn't designed with the manual gearbox in mind. The electric parking brake button has to be pushed 'ON' every time and it's just out of arms reach so you have to lean forward. To release 'OFF' you just drive away so that's OK.
The cup holders are in the centre console so you can't change gear with anything in them over a certain height (a McFlurry if you are lucky).
Have a look on VolvoForums, although that might put you off the D4 engine! It sounds like Volvo had a few issues meeting the emissions standard without AdBlue etc. which results in EGR problems. Bear in mind several modern 4 cylinder diesel engines have issues, VAG with their Nox sensors at £400 a time, BMW chains snapping, that sort of thing.

Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. I will have a look on the Volvo forum. I'm not bothered about speed, it's more for comfort on long motorway commutes & space for the family holidays. I've looked at the D2,3,4 & 5 and will try to find out which is the most reliable engine.
