2.5t xc70 PETROL - odd choice over diesel?
Discussion
I'm in the market for an XC70 up to about £6k & spotted this: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/auctions/2006-volv...
I'm not well informed about this engine & with thousands of diesels around wonder if it might be either a good if unusual choice or just a bit of an abberation? Is anyone running something similar & could offer an opinion? Many thanks, Julian

The 2.5t unit fitted to this is a low pressure turbo 5 cylinder. It has minimal turbo lag and actually behaves very diesel like at low to mid-range with also having the added benefit of revving out a little higher than the D5.
They are thirsty but on a 1.6 tonne estate awd car you can't really help it.
A simple remap on this engine can pump the power up to T5 levels very easily and make it a real performer.
Very reliable engine as by this point Volvo had been perfecting the 5 cylinder engines.
