So, virtually no visible corrosion topside on my 1995 850 estate.. there was some underneath toward the rear two years ago but I’ve not had it inspected since by a Volvo specialist... went through the mot today just a few advisories but nothing related to bodywork... the old girl has (genuinely) done lesser than 100k miles and is in great nick, still flys like the proverbial brick... love this car and I’m very keen to reverse and stop any rot, it’s really a keeper... any thoughts and suggestions about corrosion and prevention will be greatly received...
TIA,
Richard

I really can't think of any known corrosion areas on the 850, they are well built from very sturdy gauge material. The 2 I had did have localised rust spots from stone chips and the rear chassis legs had minor surface rust. An annual wash underneath would be plenty I'd imagine.

Great cars, wish I'd kept mine.

They don’t suffer usually unless they have been left stood on grass for sometime (like any car)

Just check front wings

Rear bumper brackets (replacing mine this month)

Boot lid, under window seal and behind number plate where previous owners have drilled new holes for the plates

Well it's a great looking car and nearly run in!

I love my 1999 V70, it has 251k on it, and had an MOT last week and only required a lower wishbone for a pass.

When I looked under it the only rust is around the clamps holding up/on the exhaust. I imagine yours is as clean.

I have always been fussy about cleaning the underside as the topside, so that may help on the tin worm

Get it used!
