Volvo price match guarantee

Hi folks
My Volvo V90 18 plate is due for its 2 year service. Having reviewed the Volvo website they state and I quote, "We will also match any like for like written quote for a Volvo Service using the correct oil and Volvo genuine parts from any garage within 5 miles"
So I went out and got a price that meet the Volvo criteria that was £290 compared to Volvo who want to charge £495. Having taken this back to my local Volvo franchise service centre they are now saying they cant match this price so are not going to honour the promise on the Volvo website.
We are currently talking to the Volvo head office who think we are in the right, I am currently waiting to hear back from their conversation with my dealer.
Has anyone else had a similar dispute with their dealer?

How frustrating. I've generally found 'price promises' across all industries worthless. When it comes to car servicing, I've learnt to get multiple quotes from main dealers. They do vary, and I recently saved around £300 by asking my local dealer to match a dealer some distance away. They agreed, but when the bill was produced, it was higher than agreed. So I had to wait for the service advisor to arrange for it to be credited and reinvoiced. It took around 30 mins. They will try everything they can to charge more!My Volvo V90 18 plate is due for its 2 year service. And let's not even get onto John Lewis and their complete lie of a slogan.
