V60/S60 Inscription vs R Design ride comfort
Discussion
I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with both cars and could comment on the difference in ride quality. I would be avoiding the 20" wheels for either option but the reviews I have watched and read tend to be mixed on the R Design ride quality while the few Inscription reviews I have read say that it is pretty good.
I currently have a 2016 R design V40, which is a little crashy over uneven surfaces but by no means uncomfortable. There is an S60 R Design locally that has caught my eye but given the current restrictions I don't want to waste the dealers time by emailing him for a test drive unless I think there is a good chance I would buy it.
Any opinions more than welcome!
Secondary question for anyone who may have knowledge, are petrol V60s in Inscription trim not selling or are people just keeping them? They seem very rare in my searches (albeit i am looking for one with an upgraded stereo, the standard stereo is worse than the upgraded stereo in my current V40)

I own a 68 plate V60 Inscription D4 with every option box ticked (except Bowers & Wilkins ), bought it at 6 months old with 8k on the clock for about £25k after incentives, £47k list price :OI currently have a 2016 R design V40, which is a little crashy over uneven surfaces but by no means uncomfortable. I drove Inscription (18" wheels), Inscription Pro (19" wheels) and R-design (18" wheels). The ride was noticably worse with the 19" wheels, but not a massive difference between the Inscription and R-design. I've since learned that that only difference is some spacers on the the suspension that are removed to give the lower rideheight so not really surprising, it just has slightly less suspension travel. Moving from a previous gen V60 the ride on all specs was a significant improvement.
The Inscription seats seem to divide opinion, I love them but some odd shaped people find that there is a support in the lower cushion that digs in, worth sitting in both.
You're right that Inscriptions are rarer than the other specs, particularly in standard 18" wheel, petrol form, however when they do appear they tend to be fully loaded with kit. It used to be that you could get a Momentum Pro with more 'toys' for less than £40k, whereas the Inscription started at just over £40k (or at least close enough that even metallic paint tipped it over).
Its definitely worth getting the Harman Kardon, the standard stereo is insufficient if you are used to volvo stereos of old. Still not as good as the old Dynaudio systems though. I had a V90 as a courtesy car at one point and the standard stereo in them is much better than the standard V60 one and not much different to the HK tbh.
Dont write off an S90... they seem to be pretty well priced compared to the rest of the range.
