Hi,
I have a Volvo C70 1999 that i bought 3 months ago and I have just noticed that the air intake is blocked off.
The large plastic pipe that should have an open end to allow air to enter the air filter box is closed off with a genuine volvo part.
I don't understand why.
I can remove it by undoing one screw but it's been there for 21 years.
Does anyone know why it's blocked and can I remove it.

My 2003 original C70 is just the same. The car runs perfectly, so I don't see any reason to remove the plate. I imagine they are all the same.

It's a snow shield, to stop the inlet clogging up with, errr, snow.

Perfectly safe to remove in our climate, and something that many t5 owners do early on in ownership. Doubt it makes any discernable difference, but there you go.
