2006 XC90 D5 - MPG and Injectors
Discussion
I've got a 2006 XC90 and fear the Injector/s are on the way out...?
I'm getting pro 32mpg (measured over multiple tanks), its reluctant to start and every so often it drops into limp mode (with Code 042?)
Does that sound like injectors? (it was due to go in for a service just before the garage closed for Covid)
Presumably, if it is, all 5 need changing at once? How much...?
Otherwise, it has been a great car!

Hi
Other posts on here say the error code 042 pertained to the brake sensor. Also I get approx 44mpg out of my D5 with a small C30 body so 32 plus with a big xc90 might not be far out. My C30 had issues until it was diagnosed that the battery was almost dead and not holding charge. New one has done wonders.
Would not jump to injector conclusions just yet'

I spent a small fortune chasing starting issues on our 2003 XC90. Replaced battery, replaced all injectors (and all stuck of course), glow plugs.
Then someone suggested to replace the starter motor. Boom. Sorted. It just wasn't spinning it over fast enough, even though it sounded fine.
